Bubblefeet wanted to do a post on some of the things she and her friends do when they're bored at recess. Enjoy.

Five Things to Do on a Swing

At recess at school my friends and I did all sorts of things on the swings(until the teachers banned them, not so much for our safety as for the little kids' safety). Here are five of them (ordered from least fun to most fun).
  1. One interesting thing is having shoe flinging contests.( Beware, anyone passing in front of us!)
  2. We can also swing side to side and try to grab on to the poles and each other and usually ended up running into each other. This was fun until someone ran into someone else.(Then it gets hilarious, yet painful. :P)
  3. A two-person thing to do on the low swings is to twist around each other's chains, then have someone else push you so you untwist, and sometimes run into a pole.:P
  4. One of the first things we came up with is to put the swing on your hips and keep your legs straight so they don't hit the ground and get pushed that way.(see diagram)

5.Last and definitely not least what we call the "three swing thing". You put one person on each of the outer swings(our swingset has three sections of three swings each)and they put their feet together on the middle swing. Then the third person pushes them one at a time so they go crazy and swing back and forth and jerk around.(if you can't get a mental image, see diagram)

My, we were never that creative when I was a lad! Usually we got our bruises playing boys against girls or trying to conquer the play structure.

LOL!! I love the DeEruasquins!! LOL!!

we would all go over too the public school play-ground and use there play stuff. and play some kinda of ridicules made up games, like "Mr. Hockey-Sockey man"( I could be mistaken on the spelling)

(oh and I was very young so I was a tag along in these groups; I wasn't the brains of the operation. it was my older brothers and there friends) and we played Cops & Robbers. oh how long ago.... I must have been about 5-7 I don't remember.

But my only swinging story's would be: for the longest time I couldn't swing on a swing properly so I would lay in it on my Stomach, and swing like that, and in Head-Start(yes I went through that ridiculously-pointless thing) one of our "teachers" Ms. Lockheart( I think that was her name....that's what we called her anyway....but then again I(we) called the front desk lady Mrs. Penguin... anyways....) would always yell at us for swinging that way; oh and for standing, and putting our heads back so we would be almost up-side down at peak.(but we would do it all anyways when she wasn't looking.)

sooo long ago....

I love swings!!! When I was little I used to throw the swings so they wound around the top pole, then when the swing was all high and somewhat close to the pole (not TOO close, for obvious reasons) I'd climb up on it and swing a nice fast-swing (it went faster, as there was less "rope" in the swing) Yay childhood! Good times, good times, haha
